Welcome to the e-News Generator sample newsletter.  I've just included this copy to fill space in order for you to see what a finished newsletter might look like. Solution to February’s Puzzle: Counterfeit Coins This puzzle is from Clifford Jensen. Suppose you have 10 stacks of coins, with 10 coins in each stack. One stack consists of 10 counterfeit coins and the other 9 stacks each consist of 10 legitimate coins. Each legitimate coin weighs exactly 1 gram. Each counterfeit coin weighs exactly 0.9 grams. Have SQL Server Email You Error Messages Generated by Job Failures

Because it's helpful to receive the error messages generated by failed jobs, I created a SQL Server job step that calls a stored procedure named spDBA_job_notification. The job step passes the failed job's ID to the stored procedure. The stored procedure uses the job ID to query the msdb agent tables for the most recent error message for that job. The stored procedure incorporates the error message into an email and sends the email to the specified person.

March Omnibus

I read a lot of blog posts - a LOT.  Sometimes it's interesting to sit back and evaluate all of the reading that I'm doing to try to glean ways of improving my efficiency.  One thing that has enormously improved my efficiency is installing a Google plug-in RSS reader.  Now, all the blogs that I read come into one sidebar where I can easily keep track of what's new.  So here are some of the posts I've been reading in the last couple days primarily covering SQL Server...
